Chocolate chip cookies

Eric Howey

Chocolate chip cookies are the ultimate crowd-pleaser and a staple in any baker's repertoire. Warm, gooey, and loaded with melty chocolate chips, these cookies are perfect for any occasion, whether it’s a family gathering, a bake sale, or a cozy night in. The beauty of chocolate chip cookies lies in their simplicity—they’re quick to whip up and require only basic ingredients you likely already have in your pantry.

This recipe produces cookies that are soft in the center, slightly crisp on the edges, and packed with chocolate chips in every bite. They’re just as delicious fresh out of the oven as they are cooled with a glass of milk.

Easy Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. Preheat & Prep: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Cream Butter & Sugars: In a large bowl, cream the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
  4. Combine: Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until well incorporated. Stir in the chocolate chips.
  5. Shape: Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  6. Bake: Bake for 9-11 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers look slightly soft. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 2 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Serve these chocolate chip cookies warm for a gooey, chocolatey experience, or save them for later—they’re just as good the next day!
