Chocolate Lava Cake Recipe
Ingredients (for 4 cakes):
- ½ cup unsalted butter (plus extra for greasing)
- 4 ounces semisweet chocolate (chopped)
- 2 large eggs
- 2 large egg yolks
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- Optional: Powdered sugar, ice cream, or berries for serving
Instructions:
- Preheat & Prep: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease four 6-ounce ramekins with butter and dust with flour, tapping out the excess.
- Melt Butter & Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter and chocolate together in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until smooth. Let cool slightly.
- Whisk Eggs & Sugar: In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, egg yolks, and sugar until thick and pale.
- Combine Ingredients: Gradually stir the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture. Fold in the flour until just combined.
- Fill Ramekins: Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins. Place them on a baking sheet for easy handling.
- Bake: Bake for 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are set but the centers are still soft. Remove from the oven and let sit for 1-2 minutes.
- Serve: Carefully run a knife around the edges of each ramekin and invert the cakes onto plates. Serve immediately with powdered sugar, ice cream, or berries.
These chocolate lava cakes are a showstopper every time. Their warm, gooey centers are the perfect ending to any meal!
